70th Anniversary of D-Day - Normandy, June 2014

The weekend of June 6th 2014 may be the last time that a significant number of veterans who stormed the beaches in Normandy to liberate France and end World War II, will be able to be present. President Obama, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden, and many heads of state are expected to join the 14,000 People who will attend the event.

As a special contribution, Helen Patton, Granddaughter of General Patton, has been requested to make a statement of forgiveness and reconciliation by inaugurating "The PATTON Concerts“.

She will perform on Utah Beach, with Thomas Blug, winner of The Fender Prize - Best European Guitar Player Award, Thijs van Leer, knighted by The Queen of the Netherlands for "special services to music", and Magène, Normandy’s own beloved band plus special guests for an evening of songs and Rock and Roll music in commemoration of D-Day.

Helen will also introduce a new young talent from Normandy especially selected to perform “Les Ricains”, written by Michel Sardou, which along with „The Longest Day“ has been the key anthem commemorating D-Day.
